Headed out at 3:30AM for a few days of COLD fishing.  The trip up was pretty uneventful until the last exit.  I came off the ramp about 45mph and heard a sound from the back seat that sounded like SNOW ON THE ROAD.  Turns out it was as the truck went to the left and the boat went to the right.  All seemed lost for a few seconds until my amazing driving skills popped out.  SAVED in the last second.  John was riding behind us so he was the only one that didn't have to take an unpucker break for a few minutes.  With our lives still freshly flashed before our frozen eyeballs, we set out to catch bait.  We messed around with the gill nets for a few minutes and caught a few shad.  I then decided to throw the net on a nice pod of bait in 22 feet of water and BINGO.  All we needed for the day.

We fished upriver today and it was brutally cold and windy.  The fish just did not want to cooperate.  We headed in and decided to catch a few more baits for tomorrow.  Some guys at the ramp wanted some bait as we were taking out and we obliged by heading back out to throw the net for them.  I threw one time in 12 feet of water and got 250-300 shad in the bottom of the boat.  They had all they wanted.

We headed in to take a shower and get ready to eat.  We raided a Mexican restaurant and it was good.  After getting a full belly and a near crash into some deer that were a good 1/4 mile ahead of us we headed down for the night.  We put in at Jordan Pointe the next morning before daylight and fished hard all day.  The fish bit a little better but not much.  John did lose a nice one at the boat and we caught them up to 24 pounds.  No monsters this trip but we will be back real soon.  Met some real nice folks this trip and the guys we gave bait to won a tournament with it so that worked out real well.
